We are currently recruiting teen actors for the 2017-2018 Changing Lives Youth Theatre Ensemble and would love to work with YOU!
Changing Lives Youth Theatre Ensemble Auditions
Do you know a teen entering 9th-12th grade who is interested in the performing arts, social justice, or youth leadership? Changing Lives Youth Theatre Ensemble, a collaboration between Creative Action and Expect Respect, a program of SAFE, is recruiting youth to audition for the 2017-2018 ensemble on May 20th 12:00-2:30 pm & 3:00-5:30 pm.
In this program, the ensemble learns about social justice and activism while creating an original play that explores teen relationships and encourages youth to take a stand against dating violence, sexual harassment, and bullying. Ideal students would be ensemble-minded, interested in the arts (theatre, visual arts, creative writing), interested in social justice, and/or interested in becoming a peer educator and youth leader in the greater Austin community.
Changing Lives rehearses Tuesdays and Thursdays 7-9 pm at Creative Action (late August to May) and begins performing their original play in February, touring to middle schools around the Austin area. Ensemble members are paid for their time and dedication to the ensemble. Sign up for an audition slot here, or email Managing Director Meg Greene at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Changing Lives youth are often very active in their schools and communities. We work with ensemble members to learn how to manage their busy schedules and maintain commitment to any other programs, performances, or extracurriculars they might be involved in. We also strive to collaborate with coaches, teachers, and directors to ensure that students can balance their many important commitments.
